The pictures on this page are an attempt at showing you the Console for Windows in action. However, do note that it's rather difficult to get the feel of the Console just by looking at it -- you really have to spend a while playing with it to get to know it well!

A brief demonstration

[We start with the Desktop.]

Once upon a time, it was a bright and sunny day on your computer's Desktop. You, grand high ruler of all things on this computer, decided that you wanted to start up a word processor. But your hands were at the keyboard, and you didn't want to waste time with the mouse.

[The Console animates down.]

So, you press Ctrl+Shift+Q to bring down the (drumroll, please ...) Console For Windows!

[You type a command.]

You type in a command (which you have already set up to link to your favourite word processor) and press Enter.

Note that the Console tries to guess what you want as you type -- which can save you even more time!

[And your program starts!]

And hey presto, here comes your program! Easy as pie!

For this demo, we used the free and open-source program AbiWord. But the Console can be easily set up to open Microsoft Word, or WordPerfect, or any other program on your system for that matter.

P.S. And they all lived happily ever after.

[Options Window Screenshot] Here's the options window, where you customise the CFW for your purposes. As you can see, a few things are available for change!
[Bind Editor Screenshot]

Following that, we have the bind editor, where you can add bindings, modify bindings, or delete bindings. You can also add bindings without starting this editor.

[A Sample Error Message]

And where would we be without errors? Well, they are a little different to the standard errors ...
